Bahria Town fined Rs 460 billion: SC decides to set up 11-member commission on use of funds for development projects in Sindh
The Supreme Court has rejected the requests of the Federal and Sindh Governments to use the billions of rupees received from the private housing society Bahria Town for their project to be built in Karachi and to use the money for development projects in Sindh Province. An eleven-member commission has been formed to spend on.
It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had ordered the management of Bahria Town to deposit Rs 460 billion in the Supreme Court account in installments after a case of alleged corruption in land purchase by a private housing society came to light in Karachi.
According to the records so far, more than Rs 57 billion has been deposited in this account.
According to correspondent Shehzad Malik, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Faisal Arab delivered the reserved judgment on Tuesday in the case related to the implementation of the court's decision and said that the head of the commission would be appointed by the Supreme Court. ۔
