Preparations have been finalized for a meeting to be held today under the auspices of Pakistan Democratic Movement on the occasion of the tragedy on October 18 at Park Jinnah Jinnah Park adjacent to Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
A coalition of anti-government parties will hold a power show at Bagh-e-Jinnah Karachi today to pay homage to the martyrs of the October 18, 2007 Karachi tragedy.
Preparations for the PPP-hosted rally in Bagh-e-Jinnah have been finalized and passes have been issued to volunteers and media from all parties.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman is already in Karachi to attend today's PDM meeting while Maryam Nawaz has also left Lahore for Karachi.
Besides, convoys of PPP, PML-N and other opposition parties from different parts of the province have started arriving in Karachi under the leadership of local leaders.
Meeting arrangements
According to PPP Karachi Division President Saeed Ghani, a stage 180 feet long, 60 feet wide and 20 feet high has been constructed for the rally.Saeed Ghani said that 3 parts of the stage have been made in which the middle part will be the main stage where the central leaders of all the political parties in the PDM will be the central stage while the main stage will be 40 feet long and 10 feet on both sides. The two high-rise stages will be reserved for provincial and district leadership.
The PPP leader said that the entrance for VIPs in the hall and parking of their vehicles would be near the stage while the women would come through a separate gate in the hall and the women's seats would be in the front of the hall. Male participants will be able to enter the ground through three entrances, while media representatives will be able to enter through a designated route on the other side of the ground.
Saeed Ghani said that fountains have been set up at various places in the ground to provide ample water to the participants while a medical camp will also be set up by the People's Doctors Forum.
