ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned the process of declaring former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a fugitive till the statements of witnesses are sealed.



A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard Nawaz Sharif's appeals against the sentence in the Azizia and Avonfield reference.

 The NAB appeal against Nawaz Sharif's acquittal was also heard in the flagship reference while the same court heard the NAB's appeal against Nawaz Sharif to increase the sentence passed by the accountability court in the Azizia Steel Mills reference.

The Islamabad High Court had summoned Nawaz Sharif through an advertisement but he did not appear despite court orders.

The Foreign Office said in its report that Nawaz Sharif was deliberately not appearing in court.

The Islamabad High Court adjourned the proceedings on declaring Nawaz Sharif a fugitive till the next hearing and said that it was to be reassured that every effort was made to inform Nawaz Sharif of the order.

It may be recalled that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been residing in London since November 19 last year where he is undergoing treatment and medical examination.

 فلیگ شپ ریفرنس میں نواز شریف کی بریت کے خلاف نیب اپیل پر بھی سماعت ہوئی جب کہ اسی عدالت میں نواز شریف کو العزیزیہ اسٹیل ملز ریفرنس میں احتساب عدالت کی جانب سے سنائی گئی سزا میں اضافے کے لیے نیب کی اپیل پر سماعت کی۔
